Solicitation Criminal Attorney in Denver

Former Prosecutor Building Evidence-Based Defenses

A solicitation accusation requires close examination of the alleged communication, its context, and the government’s evidence. At Law Offices of M. Colin Bresee, we build each defense through intensive investigation and legal analysis rather than assumptions about what occurred.

M. Colin Bresee is a former prosecutor who served with the Denver City Attorney’s Office and district attorney offices in Colorado. He has practiced criminal law since 1995, handling thousands of cases and hundreds of jury trials. Our practice is dedicated exclusively to criminal defense.

Mr. Bresee holds a Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished peer-review rating based on assessments by fellow attorneys and judges. His prosecution background informs how we examine charging decisions, witness accounts, digital communications, and the evidence the government may rely on in court.

Colorado Soliciting for Prostitution Charges

Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-7-202 defines soliciting for prostitution in several ways. The alleged conduct may involve soliciting another person for prostitution, arranging or offering to arrange a meeting for prostitution, or directing someone to a place while knowing the direction is for prostitution.

Soliciting for prostitution involving an adult is currently a petty offense in Colorado. The state reduced adult prostitution and solicitation charges from misdemeanors to petty offenses effective March 1, 2022. In addition to penalties authorized by the petty-offense sentencing statute, a court may impose an additional fine of up to $5,000.

Allegations Involving a Minor
An allegation involving a person younger than 18 falls under a substantially different statutory framework. Soliciting a child for prostitution is a class 3 felony, with a possible prison sentence of four to 12 years and a fine ranging from $3,000 to $750,000. Because the charged conduct and potential consequences differ sharply from an adult solicitation allegation, the precise statute identified in the charging documents matters.
